Do I need to make an appointment or reservation?

Ceramics in the City takes walk-ins on all days except during special events.  We can get pretty busy so reservations on any day is never a bad idea.  it usually takes over an hour to choose and create your artwork so we will not seat customers 90 minutes or less to closing time.  When you are planning a trip to Ceramics in the City please keep in mind when we close.  We ask that you finish your projects about 15 minutes before closing time so we can complete check out and end of day clean up.

Can I bring in food & drinks?

You may bring food and drinks.  If you are planning a party and need a food table we have a little table that works great - just let us know you will need it.  Always remember that unfired pottery hates grease and oils.  If you plan to bring in food please do not touch the pottery until your hands are washed with soap.  Bon Appetite!

Do the paints stain? Are they safe for kids to use?

Ceramics in the City is totally non-toxic & lead-free. The underglazes do not stain. After glazing & firing your pottery is food safe.  We recommend that you do not microwave your pottery.

How old do you need to be to paint?

Every artist is different.  Some small children are like bulls in a china closet and some are more delicate in their actions and thoughts.  You know your child and what they can handle.  Babies can make a mean footprint keepsake and some 3 year olds can give Monet and run for his money.  Many of the pieces are especially tailored for specific age groups.   We ask that adults accompany children ages 12 and under unless the child is participating in a workshop.

What if I do not finish my project?

If you do not finish painting your pottery before you need to leave the studio we will be happy to wrap up your project and send it home with you.  When you return you will be responsible to pay a $5 sitting fee.  Glass projects must be completed on the same day they are started. Most projects - pottery or glass - take at least an hour to complete and we ask that guests stop working on their projects about 15 minutes before closing time. Please keep this in mind when you are planning a trip to Ceramics in the City.

How long does it take to get our projects back?

We will have your painted pottery fired and ready for your use in 7 days and many times sooner.  For glass we also need a week to complete.  If you slump your glass then you need to add another week.  Paint Me shirts are ready to take home just several minutes after you complete painting!  You can have your silver jewelry completed in 1 or 2 days.  If you need projects done quickly it never hurts to ask if we can get your project done sooner than normal.

What happens if I can't come pick up my project when it's ready?

We will hold your project for 30 days. Because we lack storage space we can not be responsible for holding it longer than that.

What kinds of payments do you accept?

Ceramics in the City accepts Cash, Debit, MasterCard or Visa. We do not accept personal checks.
